If you’ve had an Android phone for a while, you’re probably used to turning it on and off by holding down the power button for a long time. Long-pressing the power button while the phone was on used to allow you to restart it, lock it down, or signal an emergency.
On Pixel smartphones and Android devices, Assistant can be launched in a variety of ways. With the release of Android 12, the number of possibilities has grown. Pixels start Google Assistant by default instead of opening a power menu by long-pressing the Side button. You may now turn off this functionality.
How to Turn off the Google Assistant Power Button on Android
- Go to the Settings menu.
- Tap on System >> Gestures.
- Go down to the bottom of the menu and tap Press and hold power button or Power Menu.
- Toggle off Hold for Assistant.
